STUDIO OF ANGELA TIER
Angela Tier is a visual artist who transforms clay into deeply personal hand built art works that honor memory, ritual and human connection. Tier's hand coiled urns and vessels echo ancient forms, her works are both art and artifact, each one a quiet meditation of form, presence and memory. At UTOPIA Studio | Gallery, visitors experience Tier's ceramics not just as objects, but as stories told through clay. Her conceptual sculptures investigate imbalances between humans and nature which you can explore here.

Angela's sculptural works are predominantly made with clay. She looks at our relationship with nature, with each other and within ourselves. She investigates the delicate balance of those relationships as well as human impact on the eco system. In her artwork below titled Bad Science? she is asking viewers whether it is ok for man to play God when it comes to genetically modifying rats to save other species, is it cruel or humane, are we opening Pandora's Box?
Before Angela's relationship with clay, her main medium was photography. She would document specimens, people and still life of objects she had found or made. Photography is still very much an important part of her art practice, adapting to her current ideas and documenting installation works such as the Bad Science? 2024 work below.
